Shopping!

A friend of ours is sick and we went out today at lunch to get some veggies and bread for her. The Doc here at post thinks it's malaria-like, but we're not in a Malaria area. They just got back from Ghana so it possible that they contracted it there. But that's not the title of the post, now is it?

Shopping. A coworker, Carol, and I were gone for an hour so we brought back some snacks for the office. A cantaloupe, cannolis, and some fresh bread. When we brought it in there were other people in our office and wanted to know where we went to get the spread. Carol won't be able to tell them because I brought her in the back way and she doesn't drive. I'm not cracking. My market is a locals-only area and I'm not going to ruin it by telling all the loonies that I work with. There is an Asian-American lady that works here that makes it a contest to try to screw the locals out of an extra 20 dram. They need that nickel a LOT worse than we do, and I figure a twenty-five versus thirty cent head of beautiful organic lettuce is worth a third of a dollar to me. If I were to divulge the location of this very convenient market they'll march in there, be rude, and get my prices all jacked up. As it is now Misty and I and the handful of foreigners that shop there are novelties. I want to keep it that way! There are plenty of places for the community to go shopping and I don't feel the need to turn them onto my spot.
